BC Bioenergy Network appoints new executive director

July 31, 2017 - BC Bioenergy Network (BCBN) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Scott Stanners as executive director. Scott brings almost a decade of experience with BCBN, previously holding roles of director of research, director of business development, technology, and innovation, and acting executive director.


BCBN is a provincially-funded association supporting the bioenergy sector in British Columbia. In the coming months, BCBN will be working in partnership with its board of directors and the BC government to refine its mandate and focus.

“We are pleased to congratulate Scott on his appointment as executive director,” said Brent Sauder, chair of the board. “His years of experience with BCBN will be incredibly beneficial in defining a new direction for BCBN and advancing the use of bioenergy in BC and beyond.”

Prior to joining BC Bioenergy Network, Scott held key advisory positions in the biotechnology sector in Canada and Australia with government, private organizations, and industry associations. Scott has a B.Sc. from University of Calgary and a Ph.D. and Graduate Certificate in Innovation and Enterprise from The University of Sydney, Australia. Scott is a board member and Director of Memberships of the Canada, Australia & New Zealand Business Association and board member and President of the Pacific Energy Innovation Association. Scott has managed the West Coast Bioenergy Guild since 2010.


Established in April 2008 with a $25 million grant from the BC government, BC Bioenergy Network is an industry-led association that acts as a catalyst for deploying near-term bioenergy technologies and organizing mission-driven research for the development and demonstration of sustainable world class bioenergy capability in BC.
