Minister of the Environment to speak at Methane Expo

February 20, 2013, Vancouver, BC – The Global Methane Initiative and Environment Canada announced that the Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of the Environment, has confirmed his participation in Methane Expo 2013.

Minister Kent will give a Welcome Address at the Opening Reception on Tuesday evening, 12 March, as well as the Keynote Address on Wednesday morning, 13 March.
Mr. Kent was appointed Canada's Environment Minister in January 2011. He is responsible for the development of Canada's domestic Climate Change mitigation and adaptation policies, and the international negotiation of a more effective, post-Kyoto Protocol climate change regime that will include all major emitting nations, such as China, the United States, India and Brazil.

Prior to his election to the House of Commons, Minister Kent was a broadcast journalist having spent more than 40 years working as a writer, reporter, producer, anchor and senior executive in Canada, the United States and around the world.

Minister Kent will be joined by Ms. Gina McCarthy, U.S. EPA's Assistant Administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation, and Mr. Greg Moore, Chair of Metro Vancouver.
