One of the highlights of the week will be an opportunity to see the OPG Atikokan conversion of coal-based electricity generation to biomass-based generation project. CanBio also hopes to provide tours of other local biomass and bioenergy facilities, including Rentech, Resolute and CRIBE projects.
Other events in the planning stages for the week include:
- Seminars organized by Lakehead University and Confederation College
- FPAC Biopathways session
- Training session for Canadian international trade commissioners
- "Golf and Bluegrass" social event
The CanBio annual conference will also take place during the week-long program, running from September 10-11. The CanBio conference program will cover the latest developments in bioenergy, biomaterials and biochemicals particularly from the point of view of project development and opportunities for local areas. The concept of "distributed biorefineries" will be a focusing theme.
Registration for Bioenergy Week activities will begin in April. For more information, visit canbio.ca.
