Scotia Atlantic pellets set sail for Europe

February 4, 2014, Halifax, N.S. – The first shipment of pellets produced by Scotia Atlantic Biomass Company Ltd. is on its way to Europe.

February 4, 2014, Halifax, N.S. – The first shipment of
pellets produced by Scotia Atlantic Biomass Company Ltd. is on its way to
Europe.

According to a report in the The Chronicle Herald, the
25,000 tonne shipment began loading on Saturday. The shipment’s final
destination is Ghent, Belgium.

Scotia Atlantic, owned by Viridis Energy, is located on the
former site of Enligna Canada Inc. in Upper Musquodoboit. Viridis purchased the
assets of the former pellet mill for $2.4 million in 2012.

Scotia Atlantic is expected to produce up to 120,000 tonnes
of pellets per year to be shipped to European customers on a quarterly basis.
