March 26, 2019 - SynTech Bioenergy, a pioneer in renewable, carbon negative clean energy, has appointed Garrett Pettingell as chief financial officer.

“Garrett brings extraordinary depth and breadth of experience to our executive team, particularly in helping businesses match their vision to their financial success,” said Wayne McFarland, chairman and CEO, SynTech Bioenergy. “He has honed his leadership abilities in a range of executive roles, resulting in an agility grounded in financial acumen that is a perfect fit for SynTech’s growth mindset.”

Mr. Pettingell has more than 20 years of work experience as a CEO and CFO of public and private companies in the United States and in Europe. After graduating from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with his master of business administration in finance, Pettingell joined Bank of Austria in Moscow, Russia, rising to head of corporate banking.

In 2002, Pettingell engineered the spin-out of Apptix Inc. from TeleComputing in one of the few successful European IPOs of 2002. During that time, he raised over $40 million in private and institutional investment funds. In 2008, as CEO of Blue Frog Solutions, an enterprise software company, Pettingell performed a major reorganization and then sold the company to a private equity group.

He holds a master of arts degree in international studies and a master of science degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant, as well as a chartered global management accountant. Pettingell served in the U.S. Army Special Forces and retired from the Maryland Army National Guard at the rank of Major after 24 years of service.
