EPA releases fuel standards, reduces cellulosic ethanol
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the new renewable fuel standards for biomass-based diesel, advanced biofuels, cellulosic biofuels and total renewable fuels for 2012, which increase from 2011 but fall far short of initial targets.

Loss of subsidy ends tough year for ethanol
The United States has ended a 30-year tax subsidy for corn-based ethanol that according to an article in the Detroit News cost taxpayers $6 billion annually. It also ended a tariff on imported Brazilian ethanol.

CHP biomass plant slated for Vermont
A combined heat and power (CHP) biomass plant slated for southern Vermont will generate $15 million in local forest revenue, heat for a local business park, and 160 permanent positions.
