April 28, 2014, Roddickton-Bide Arm,
Nfld. – Mayor Sheila Fitzgerald is calling on the provincial government to
provide funding to support the pellet plant in her community.

According
to a report in The Western Star, the Mayor of Roddickton-Bide Arm, located on
the northeast side of the Northern Peninsula in Newfoundland, has written to Natural Resources Minister
Derrick Dalley looking for an investment in the plant. The Holson
Forest Products Limited Plant is currently not operational due to shipping
issues.

Mayor
Fitzgerald is asking for an investment in a wharf to support the town of
Roddickton to be used by the pellet manufacturer, as well as other regional
industries including forestry. The decline in the forest industry in the
region, a part of which is attributed to the shutdown of the pellet mill, is
causing some residents to leave the community.

The
Minister has yet to make formal comments regarding the request.
