March 2, 2016 – A non-hazardous chemical spill was reported at a New Yrok bioenergy facility on Sunday.
According to a story from WIVB News, the spill at the Niagara BioEnergy facility in Wheatfield, approximately 20km east on Niagara Falls, was the result of a ‘foamy food waste substance’ that had collected in the anaerobic digestion tank.
The tank’s pressure relief system is being blamed for the spill, which was contained to the gravel area surrounding the tank.
