ON to scrap cap-and-trade system, fight federal carbon tax

June 20, 2018 - Ontario's incoming Premier Doug Ford said Friday he plans to end the province's cap-and-trade system, which it shares with Quebec and California, when he takes office in late June, the Canadian Press reports.
Ford also said he will fight Ottawa’s requirement that provinces have a carbon tax in place. “I will (be) directing my attorney general to use all available resources, to use every power at the government’s disposal, we will officially challenge the federal government carbon tax on Ontario families,” he said.
