
Op-ed: Phasing out coal a health priority

Oct. 31, 2016 - Canada must join the international trend to replace coal power plants with clean programs and policies, and is in a position to become a global leader, according to the heads of Canada's top medical associations.
Kim Perrotta, executive director of Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, and Dr. Granger Avery, president of Canadian Medical Association, wrote an op-ed in The Globe and Mail urging for the closure of the 14 coal plants still operating in Canada.
