OPG issues RFIP for biomass supply for Thunder Bay

March 13, 2014, Thunder Bay, Ont. – Ontario Power Generation has issued a Request for Indicative Prices for supplying biomass for the Thunder Bay Generating Station.

March 13, 2014, Thunder Bay, Ont. – Ontario Power Generation
has issued a Request for Indicative Prices for supplying biomass for the
Thunder Bay Generating Station.

 

According to OPG’s request, interested suppliers should: “…submit
indicative prices to OPG for Advanced Wood Pellet Fuel. This is a fuel pellet
that has been manufactured from woody biomass with no additives. Its
manufacture includes a heat treatment process that changes the characteristics
of the pellet such that it can be stored and handled using the plant’s existing
fuel handling systems.”

Any interested company must submit a Declaration of plans to
participate in the RFIP to OPG no later than Tuesday, March 18th,
with RFIP information needing to be submitted by Wednesday, April 2nd.

 

OPG’s Thunder Bay Generating Station is expected to begin
burning biomass in October of 2014.
