November 5, 2013, Vancouver, B.C. – The Wood Pellet
Association of Canada has announced that Brent Boyko of Ontario Power
Generation has agreed to speak at the 2013 WPAC Conference and AGM in Vancouver.

Boyko, who is the Station Manager at the Atikokan Generating
Station, will speak about the conversion of OPG’s Atikokan power plant from
burning coal to burning wood pellets.

The OPG Atikokan station generates 211 megawatts of power at
its peak, and produces enough annual power for approximately 83,000 homes and
businesses annually. In order to generate that power, the plant was burning
around 90,000 tonnes of coal. However, as part of Ontario’s Green Energy Act
that called for an end to coal-fired energy generation by the end of 2014, the
plant is being converted to burn 90,000 tonnes of wood pellets to generate the
necessary electricity.

Boyko will provide an update on the progress of the
conversion of the OPG Atikokan facility.
