A P.E.I. government-appointed forestry commission has released a report making five recommendations on the use of biomass in the province.
The forestry commission was created in January to review forest policy, programs and legislation in the wake of post-tropical storm Fiona that left had a widespread impact on the province’s forest land.
The commission’s latest report on biomass, published July 7, reviewed 18 contracts between the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI) and bioheat suppliers to 44 provincially owned buildings. The report makes five recommendations, which include renegotiating contracts, updating definitions, and reviewing impacts.
