Pellet plant destroyed by fire

Sept. 21, 2018 - A fire broke out at a wood pellet plant in Corinth, Maine on Wednesday evening.

 

The fire started in the machinery at Corinth Wood Pellets LLC, according to reports. 

Crews were reportedly called in from more than 20 fire departments to fight the blaze which caused extensive damage to the main wood pellet processing area. Crews reportedly stopped it from spreading to the main office and warehouse.

Firefighters also remained on scene Thursday morning to monitor hotspots.

There were no serious injuries reported.

Corinth Wood Pellets manufactures hardwood pellet fuel from wood fibre that has been harvested from Maine. The plant will remain closed indefinitely.
