August 24, 2012, Richmond, VA - A long-term lease for a wood-pellet storage facility at Portsmouth Marine Terminal was recently authorized by the board of the Virginia Port Authority.

According to a Virginian-Pilot article, the 13.1-acre parcel is the first commercial project to move forward at the idled terminal since container operations were moved to APM Terminals Virginia in January 2011.

The site will be leased to ecoFuels Pellet Storage LLC, which is owned jointly by Houston-based multi-Fuels LP and Capital Management International, based in Washington, said Rodney Oliver, a deputy executive director of the Port Authority.

The complex will serve as an export facility for wood pellets manufactured at off-site locations and railed or trucked to the port, Oliver said.
