Oct. 6, 2011, Pella, IA – Pellet Technology USA, a biomass
processing technology company, has formed a strategic alliance with Vermeer
Corporation. Vermeer will serve as the exclusive supplier of the feedstock
grinder to be used in Pellet Technology’s patent-pending system to manufacture
Power Pellets from stover, wood, energy crops, and other agricultural residues.
Vermeer’s HG6000 horizontal grinder, complete with a
patented Series II duplex drum, will be integrated with the Pellet Technology
air-assisted feed system, allowing for higher-moisture agricultural residue to
be processed. The grinder features a self-cleaning “bioscreen” that maintains
an even level of biomass throughput while preventing flow blockage. This design
feature rectifies issues the biomass industry has had with producing a consistently
sized product. The grinder’s addition to Pellet Technology’s design package
provides a key component to its turnkey biomass processing solution.
