FutureMetrics updates pellet substitution cost dashboard

June 20, 2017 - FutureMetrics has made significant updates to one of its most popular dashboards: Wood Pellets in Coal Power Plants.
The dashboard that shows the change in the cost of generation when substituting wood pellets for coal in electric power stations has a number of enhancements.
The main window now shows the savings per kWh from an avoided carbon tax and compares that to the increased cost of generation per kWh from substituting pellets for coal.
The transportation costs window is completely revamped to now allow the user to calculate the costs of rail, trucking, and shipping. The analysis allows one, two, or all three logistics solutions to be combined into a total cost. If shipping is used, the window also allows inputs for port-to-power station costs.
