Great Northern to buy shuttered Nova Scotia pellet plant

Aug. 10, 2017 - A Nova Scotia forest products company has signed a tentative agreement to purchase the Scotia Atlantic Biomass pellet plant in Musquodoboit, N.S. The plant closed in 2016 and went into receivership.


Great Northern Timber Group CEO Thor Olesen told The Chronicle Herald his company signed the agreement with receiver Grant Thornton days before the mill and equipment was to be auctioned.

Olesen said Great Northern plans to repair and upgrade the mill to begin operations before the end of year.
