IWI plans to build sawmill, pellet plant in northern Ontario

July 14, 2017 - Bonfield, Ont., is the chosen site of a new sawmill proposed by Ontario-based International Wood Industries (IWI), which plans to invest $140 million into the project. The facility will include a mill to process hard and softwood as well as produce value-added products, and a pellet plant for the residuals. 

The new mill would bring 90 jobs into the community IWI president Gary Medwid told local media. Construction could begin this fall, with production beginning as early as 2019.
