Sept. 24, 2018 - Nova Scotia-based Shaw Resources announced today it has acquired ENplus certification for its Eastern Embers Wood Pellets. The company is one of just a few pellet producers in Canada to receive the certification.

Established in 2011, ENplus is an independent certification scheme for wood pellet quality run by the European Pellet Council. The scheme is used by nearly 900 companies in over 45 countries.

“Over the past two years, Shaw Resources has been committed to acquiring a high standard of socially, economically and environmentally sustainable wood pellets through certification by both PEFC Chain of Custody and Sustainable Biomass Program (SPB) Standards. And now, we’ve entered the next level of Standards,” says Julie Griffiths, geology and environmental specialist for Shaw Resources. “With growing market interest in standardized quality wood pellets, Shaw Resources has put their superior quality wood pellets to the test by obtaining the ENplus certification.”

“Our company and its employees have always been committed to producing the highest quality wood pellets in the industry, and this recognition confirms what we have been delivering on since 1995,” says Shaw Resources director of operations Rene Landry.

Headquartered in Milford, N.S., Shaw Resources supplies industrial and specialized aggregates markets. The company has two aggregate processing plants and two wood pellets plants that serve customers in the Atlantic region, North America and Europe.
