Plans underway for Bioeconomy Week in Thunder Bay

March 31, 2014, Ottawa, Ont. – CanBio has announced early details of some of the activities being planned for its upcoming Bioeconomy Week. Bioeconomy Week, which takes place September 8-12 in Thunder Bay, will include training, education, site tour and networking opportunities. 

March 31, 2014, Ottawa, Ont. – CanBio has announced early details of some of the activities being planned for its upcoming Bioeconomy Week. Bioeconomy Week, which takes place September 8-12 in Thunder Bay, will include
training, education, site tour and networking opportunities. 

 

One of the highlights of the week will be an opportunity to
see the OPG Atikokan conversion of coal-based electricity generation to
biomass-based generation project. CanBio also hopes to provide tours of other
local biomass and bioenergy facilities, including Rentech, Resolute and CRIBE
projects.

Other events in the planning stages for the week include:

 

  • Seminars organized by Lakehead University and Confederation
    College
  • FPAC Biopathways session
  • Training session for Canadian international trade commissioners
  • "Golf and Bluegrass" social event

 

The CanBio annual conference will also take place during the
week-long program, running from September 10-11. The CanBio conference program
will cover the latest developments in bioenergy, biomaterials and biochemicals
particularly from the point of view of project development and opportunities
for local areas. The concept of "distributed biorefineries" will be a
focusing theme.

 

Registration for Bioenergy Week activities will begin in
