Prairie Clean Energy signs first flax straw contract

Regina-based flax biomass pellet producer Prairie Clean Energy has signed its first contract with a flax straw farmer. The company aims to produce 60,000 tonnes of dry flax pellets per year to be shipped to customers overseas.

The Western Producer reported that dairy and grain farmer Thomas Mackenzie signed a flax-straw deal with the pellet producer at Canada’s Farm Show on June 22.
