July 21, 2014, Columbus, Ohio – A proposed constitutional
amendment in Ohio put forward by a political action committee would provide
significant benefits for the biomass industry.
According to a report from Biomass magazine, the proposed Clean
Energy Initiative amendment for the state ballot would see $1.3 billion in bond
funding per annum for 10 years. The bonds would be provided to support energy
infrastructure capital improvement, as well as research and development for
commercial applications.
The committee now needs to collect more than 380,000
signatures in order to have the amendment actually appear on the ballot. The
process must be completed before July 2nd of the year that the
committee wishes to see the proposal on the ballot.
