Research suggests Canada’s energy sector deserves more credit than what it’s getting for its innovations.
A University of Calgary study examining research and development in the fossil fuel industry reveals much of current R&D involves plenty of innovation that isn’t being recognized.
Much of the innovation work being done is driven by regulatory change, says study co-author Chad Saunders. Within the fossil fuel sector, improvements are often jointly developed with suppliers, who also need to adapt to tougher rules.
