Resolute pellet plant on schedule

August 7, 2014, Thunder Bay, Ont. – Resolute Forest Products
(RFP) has confirmed that its Thunder Bay wood pellet plant is progressing as
scheduled.

RFP CEO Richard Garneau confirmed during a conference call regarding
the company’s second quarter financial results that the plant is expected to be
in production sometime during the fourth quarter of 2014.

Resolute’s wood pellet plant is being constructed next to
the company’s sawmill in Thunder Bay. The plant will produce 45,000 tonnes of
wood pellets per year. Those pellets have already been sold to OPG Atikokan as
part of a 10-year supply contract.
