Shell to produce aviation fuel, naphtha from crops and renewable power

Germany’s Royal Dutch Shell is planning to produce aviation fuel and naphtha from crops and renewable power, aiming to move away from crude oil.

The company’s goal is to increase to commercial scale an electrolysis plant that manufactures fossil-free hydrogen.

When electricity from renewable energy sources is used in its production, hydrogen is regarded as a green fuel. Globally, Shell is aiming for net zero emissions by 2050.
