Farm co-op to supply sugar biorefinery planned for Sarnia

Aug. 15, 2017 - A co-operative of farmers is planning to supply feedstock to a proposed biorefinery in Sarnia, Ont., that will produce industrial dextrose sugar for use in the making of renewable biofuels and biochemicals.

The Cellulosic Sugar Producers Co-operative is actively searching for more members and has about one third of the members it requires, board president Dave Park told the Sarnia Observer.

The co-operative is working to confirm its ability supply to Comet Biorefining’s proposed plant in Sarnia which will have the capacity to produce 27 million kilograms of dextrose sugar annually.
