February 11, 2013, Vancouver, BC – Green Energy Solution Industries, Inc. (GESI) announced that International Technologies Inc. will provide the gasification technology for GESI’s waste-to-fuel project near Edmonton, Alta.

The plant, to be located at the 10-acre Duagh Plant Facility just outside of Edmonton, will use old and discarded railway ties. The site is owned by GESI’s partner On-Track Railway Operations.

GESI notes that there are over 7,900 rail route kilometres of railway track in Alberta alone, with each kilometre representing over 1,800 rail ties. Over 90% of all ties are wood, with a weight of 90 kg per tie, and a useable life of approximately 20 to 25 years per tie.

IET has developed and patented certain technologies, which have successfully passed the most restrictive environmental air emission monitoring and residual ash quality tests, as prescribed by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the European Economic Union utilizing a wide variety of feedstock, including creosote soaked railroad ties.

Additional details on the project will be announced in the near future.
