Two BC municipalities eyeing waste wood biomass projects

The Regional District of Central Kootenay and the City of Nelson in B.C. are both investigating the possibility of using waste wood to produce heat or power in their communities.

The city has received grant funding to move forward with a previously proposed biofuel plant located downtown, the Nelson Star reports.

Central Kootenay has put out a call for a consultant to determine a workable business model for biomass energy in the region. The biomass would be sourced from logging slash.
