Apr. 20, 2011 – Two northern Ontario sawmills are the latest to accept wood supply offers from the province of Ontario. Forest Tech, located on Manitoulin
Island, has accepted an offer of 7,000 cubic metres/year of cedar.
It will use the wood to increase its production of cedar fencing, decking, and
outdoor furniture at its sawmill and planing mill in Wikwemikong.

"Forest Tech will utilize its wood
allocation to expand its production, with additional investments into
value-added products in Wikwemikong. Further down the road, this could also
help us add new jobs and new skills into our growing workforce," says
Stuart Assiniwe, business manager for Forest Tech.

Goulard Lumber Limited, located in West
Nipissing, has accepted an offer of 59,700 cubic metres/year of white and red
pine. It will use the wood to add a second shift to produce a variety of
products, including rough and air-dried white and red pine lumber and timber
for construction.

To date, Ontario has issued 37 wood supply
offers, of which 21 have been accepted and announced, for a total of 1,326,200
cubic metres/year of wood.
