UNBC bioenergy plant earns sustainability award

June 5, 2014, Prince George, B.C. – The University of Northern British Columbia received a sustainability in construction award for the school’s bioenergy plant as part of the Canadian Green Building Awards.

June 5, 2014, Prince George, B.C. – The University of
Northern British Columbia received a sustainability in construction award for
the school’s bioenergy plant as part of the Canadian Green Building Awards.

 

According to a report in the Prince George Citizen, the
bioenergy plant is the first building in northern B.C. to receive the honour.

The plant was one of only eight buildings in Canada to earn
the award, which was given out as part of the Canadian Green Building Awards
ceremony in Toronto held on June 2nd.

 

The plant is certified LEED platinum, the highest level of
certification under the LEED system.
