FIRST EVER MARITIME BIOHEAT CONFERENCE IS A HUGE SUCCESS

The first-ever Maritime Bioheat Conference, Net Zero by 2030: Growing the Region’s Largest Source of Renewable Energy was a huge success with more than 300 registered guests.

The event was held on June 2, 2021 and was hosted by the Wood Pellet Association of Canada and its media partner Canadian Biomass Magazine. The three-hour conference, which was supported by gold sponsors Heizomat Canada and Triple Green Products, and silver sponsors Fink Machine Inc. and BCA Énergie, brought together leading bioheat experts from across Canada and Europe. Participants heard how Canada, as the world’s second-largest producer of wood pellets, can provide global and domestic marketplaces with clean, renewable and responsible energy as both strive to meet ambitious greenhouse gas targets.

Transitioning to biomass heating is a win for the environment and a win for Maritime households and businesses. By using local natural and renewable resources, provinces like Nova Scotia and New Brunswick could reduce CO2 emissions by 3.2 million tonnes per year or about 16% of the Canadian Clean Fuel Standard’s 2030 target for liquid fuels. It could also result in a savings of nearly $1 Billion for household and commercial heating across these two provinces.

You can listen to the presentations by clicking the links below, to learn how the Maritime Forest sector is leading the transition to modern biomass heating.

*Live Simultaneous interpretations will be available in French.

On DEMAND
Canada’s Wood Pellets: Responsible, Renewable Clean Energy.

Today in Canada’s forest sector, an increasing amount of forest residuals left over after harvesting, sawmilling and low quality logs traditionally left as waste are being turned into wood pellets. These pellets are sold around the world to produce clean energy, displace fossil fuels and support efforts to meet important global climate change targets.

On DEMAND
The Role of Wood Pellets in Meeting Climate Change Goals

For decades, wood waste from manufacturing was burned in beehive burners and unwanted logs, branches and tops from harvesting were either left on site, creating a fire and insect risk, or burned in piles releasing CO2 and fine particulate without generating any economic or energy benefit.
