Canada is a world leader in wood pellet production, with over 40 mills making from 1,000 to over 400,000 tonnes per year. Not coincidentally you’ll find them scattered among Canada’s established lumber industry, using sawmill residuals to make a renewable energy supply.
There are mills in every province but P.E.I., and a proposed plant in the Northwest Territories. As the Canadian Biomass Pellet Map shows, chances are if you’re looking for a bag of pellets, the closest plant is not that far away.
