March 4, 2016 – Staff and supporters of the Composites Innovation Centre in Winnipeg are hoping that continued support could lead to the establishment of Winnipeg as a hub for the biomaterials industry.

According to an article in the Winnipeg Free Press, the 13-year-old research organization has grown steadily thanks to $50 million in investments since inception.

As it looks to the next level of growth, it hopes to increase funding from industry partners from $42 million in the first 13 years to $500 million in the next five years. With current high-profile industry partners including Boeing, and a strong infrastructure, it hopes that will allow the Centre and the industry to grow in Winnipeg.
