February 3, 2016 - From March 30 to April 1, 2016, the Northeast Biomass Heating Expo will draw hundreds of visitors from the U.S. and Canada to Burlington, Vt. to attend what has become one of the premier biomass thermal energy conferences in the United States.

What started out as “Heating the Northeast with Renewable Biomass” in 2009 has now grown into the Northeast Biomass Heating Expo, with over 1,500 individual attendees and 400 businesses, agencies, and organizations represented since that year.

Industry expert speakers, panel discussions, presentations, and educational sessions make the Northeast Biomass Heating Expo an invaluable event for networking across industry, organizations, and government while also building a comprehensive knowledge base on biomass thermal heating. This year’s topics include: (H)eat Local: Marketing Biomass; Policy: What’s Working, What Isn’t?; Cordwood and Stove Technologies; Biomass, Air Quality, and Public Health: Fact From Fiction; Weatherization, Efficiency, and Fuel Switching; and much more!

Returning for a second year, expert John Siegenthaler is teaching a course in hydronics for high efficiency wood-fired and pellet-fired boilers, geared toward engineers, architects, and system designers and installers. This in-depth course is accepted in some states as continuing education credits for maintaining professional certifications.

The Expo has always had strong support and representation by the wood pellet and wood chip industries, but other types of biomass thermal energy and products are an integral part of telling the story of biomass heating in the United States. Cordwood heating, biochar, high efficiency furnaces, boilers, and gasification units are just a few of the growing movements and consistently improving technology in residential and commercial biomass heating. Consumers, the general public, and other interested parties will be able to meet with exhibitors and view state-of-the-art technology in wood stoves and other heating units on the expo floor. Blocks of time have been dedicated to the expo, ensuring maximum participation in both the conference and the expo for exhibitors and attendees alike.
