Alberta and Ontario launch carbon schemes
Jan. 2, 2017 - Ontario and Alberta marked the new year with new carbon pricing schemes, both of which came into effect on Jan. 1.

Alberta launched a carbon tax that will raise funds to encourage the growth of green energy, and Ontario began its cap-and-trade program. Both schemes have caused gas prices to jump more than three cents per litre.
