Award winners for biomass at Denver conference

Apr. 19, 2012, Denver, CO - At the International Biomass Conference & Expo that was held from April 16-19 in Denver, two industry awards were given out: The Excellence in Bioenergy and the Groundbreaker of the Year.

April 16-19, two industry awards were given out: The Excellence in
Bioenergy and the Groundbreaker of the Year.

According to an article from Biomass Power and Thermal, the Excellence in Bioenergy award was bestowed upon William Strauss, president of FutureMetrics LLC. The award was given in recognition of his ability to go above and beyond in his
efforts to drive the conversation in the biomass industry, according to
Tim Portz, program director for BBI International.

After Strauss spoke, Jon Puckett, fuel procurement manager for
Ameresco, accepted the Groundbreaker of the Year award for the creation of a 20 MW
combined-heat-and-power facility,which features two fluidized bed boilers, one steam turbine, and uses
mostly forest residues from a 40 mile radius.
