January 25, 2016 - The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) hosted three Canadian bioenergy experts who participated in a special panel series in Ottawa and Toronto entitled, "Creating Real Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reductions for Transportation with Biofuels."

The panel was moderated by Don O’Connor, GHG modelling expert and president of (S&T)2 Consultants Inc., and comprised of Dr. David Bressler, professor for University of Alberta; Dr. Jack Saddler, professor for University of British Columbia; and Dr. Warren Mabee, associate professor for Queen’s University.

Discussion focused on Canada‘s increasing GHG emissions and how biofuels can assist government, both federally and provincially, meet climate change commitments.

“The transportation sector now accounts for more than a third of Canada’s emissions on a lifecycle basis,” said O’Connor. “Biofuels are reducing transportation GHG emissions today, and the panel of bioenergy experts provided invaluable insight on biofuel policy, emission reductions, innovative cleantech development and biofuels’ place in the transportation fuel mix of today and tomorrow.”

The panel sessions were the first of a planned series to be hosted by the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association.
