
Canada, U.K. hope to reduce global reliance on coal power

Oct. 12, 2017 - Canada is partnering with the United Kingdom in an effort to reduce global consumption of coal.
Environment ministers from both countries met in Britain this week and discussed measures to convince countries proposing new coal plants to choose other methods of power generation, the Canadian Press reports.
At the same time the U.S. is proposing to subsidize coal plants to compete with natural gas.
