Ecostrat hires Charles Lalonde to catalyze growth in North America

Ecostrat Inc. has added Charles Lalonde to their Biomass Advisory Group in the role of Project Director. With a wealth of experience in agriculture and agri-environmental projects, Charles is a renowned expert in the field, known for his groundbreaking studies and publications on a wide range of agricultural issues, including biomass supply, carbon trading opportunities, and supply chain developments.

After a distinguished career with both federal and provincial Departments of Agriculture, Charles ventured out on his own and established a successful consulting business in 2008. His extensive background in agriculture has allowed him to conduct groundbreaking studies on a wide range of agricultural issues, including carbon trading opportunities, supply chain developments, and energy crop and crop residue availability to support investments in the bioeconomy sector.

Notable among Charles’ accomplishments are his prolific publications. He has published several reports on biomass supply case studies and co-authored influential reports, including an IEA Task 43 report on the Sustainability Governance of Canada’s Agriculture-based Bioeconomy and an IEA Task 37 report on the Integration of Anaerobic Digestion into Farming Systems, which compared sector developments in the UK, Italy, Australia, and Canada. His expertise has taken him across Canada, the US, and Europe, where he has reviewed agricultural bioeconomy developments firsthand.

Throughout his career, Charles has undertaken projects with farm and industry organizations, focusing on sustainability issues. Notable accomplishments include introducing a 4R fertilizer program in Ontario, developing web-based best management practices reference tools for farmers, conducting environmental studies on farm impacts on rural water quality in the Great Lakes basin, and assessing the sustainability of vegetable production in muck soils.
