Biomass Quality Network Canada, recognizing there is a need for a faster way to characterize biomass samples for prospective biofuels technologies, developed a project to create a method for characterizing biomass potentially useful for biofuel applications by correlating near-infrared (NIR) spectra with results derived from conventional wet chemical methods.

It was also recognized that there is a need for some rapid screening of samples in the field or various parts of the supply chain. Hence, the secondary goal of this project was to develop a calibration model for a handheld NIR instrument.

Join Biomass Quality Network Canada for a workshop on Nov. 3 that will discuss the NIR benchtop calibration model, the handheld NIR calibration model, and include a presentation by Lambton College on both wet chemistry and benchtop instrument techniques.

Registration is open for this free, virtual event.
