June 14,
2010, Remus, MI – With the recent redesign of the popular Bandit model 3090
Track Chipper, land-clearing contractors and loggers have power and
productivity without sacrificing operator comfort. Key upgrades to this 30-inch
(76-cm) capacity chipper include a roomy, spacious operator’s cab provided with
a rear entry door, an emergency escape door on the left, and a pop-out escape
window on the right. Convenient joystick controls operate all functions of the
machine, from the loader’s main and jib boom movement to the engine controls
and feed system. Operators will also enjoy the heat and air conditioning units
mounted inside the cab, and the added benefit of an AC/DC current for operating
devices such as laptop computer, radio, or CD player. Optional monitors provide
a view of the discharge and in-feed system from the operator’s cab.

The new
3090 offers more than just a comfortable ride: this unit was developed with the
help of some of Bandit’s best track chipper owners, along with input from
Bandit’s service and engineering staff. The company that received the first
unit ordered two more units within the first 30 days. They insisted upon
remaining anonymous so that their competitors would not gain an advantage by purchasing
a Bandit model 3090T for themselves. For the logger, this high capacity chipper
is a must-have for those working in wet and steep logging conditions. Because
of the ease in positioning and moving the chipper at the landing, the 3090 will
fill a 30-ton chip trailer in less than 15 minutes.

The 30 x
30-inch chipper opening is fronted by Bandit’s diagonal dual top feed wheel
system, allowing it to process tough whole trees with limited trimming. The
baffled drum, common on all of Bandit’s drum-style whole-tree chippers, is
virtually indestructible and is included in Bandit’s five-year “guts” warranty.
The babbitted knives are simple to change during routine maintenance. An air
compressor to assist in changing knives and cleaning up around the machine is
standard. Other features include a Cat 325EL undercarriage, which allows the
chipper to travel almost anywhere. A powerful backhoe-style loader efficiently
feeds the chipper and is equipped with a 360-degree bypass grapple. Engine
options up to 630 hp are offered.
