Haliburton Forest Biochar facility gets green light

Aug. 30, 2018 - Haliburton Forest Biochar is one step closer to startup with the recent environmental compliance approval from the Ontario environment ministry.

The Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve is behind the proposed facility, which would be built at the site of a former sawmill and wood pellet business.

The ministry website states the approval includes all sources at the facility, including the sawdust dryer, pyrolysis units and biochar hammermill.

According to the Haliburton Echo, the company plans to produce biochar for use in industrial manufacturing, replacing carbon black. Read more here
