
Locals want Thunder Bay generating station converted to CHP plant

March 22, 2019 - A group of Thunder Bay, Ont., locals are proposing a plan to avoid demolishing the Thunder Bay biomass generating station that closed last year. The plan involves converting the facility to a combined heat and power plant.
“It’s in good shape. Basically all they need in that plant is a new boiler to make it operational again,” group spokesperson Don McLeod told tbnewswatch.com.
McLeod said steam generated from the plant could be used to produce a local supply of advanced pellets.
