Dec. 8, 2014 – The National Geographic is currently tackling a special series on energy issues. One of the issues addressed is the wood pellet industry and its exports from the U.S. into the UK to feed Drax. The article gives a summary of some of the issues being negotiated between the forest industry and environmental groups before predicting that Drax will stop relying on coal when subsidies dry up in 2027.
It says, "If all goes according to plan with its White Rose power plant, which will capture carbon emissions and store them under the North Sea, Drax will likely turn back toward burning coal."
