Active Energy eyes Newfoundland for CoalSwitch plant

May 30, 2017 - U.K.-based Active Energy Group has entered into an agreement in principle with Newfoundland and Labrador with the end goal of building a biomass fuel plant to produce the company's product, CoalSwitch.

Active Energy CEO Richard Spinks told CBC News the company plans to submit the final business plan to the province on June 1.

“You have this wonderful logistics opportunity when you’re talking about the biggest market in the world for biomass, which is Europe,” Spinks said.
