Project to raise awareness of clean fuels jobs in Atlantic Canada

The Atlantica Centre for Energy launched a new energy literacy project to raise awareness of opportunities in the clean fuels sector for post-secondary students and First Nation’s youth in all four Atlantic provinces.

The Fuel 4 the Future (F4F) project includes the creation of an interactive learning website that will explore three career pathways: clean hydrogen; biofuels; and renewable natural gas. The project will connect with students through in-class activities and presentations, virtual events, awareness surveys, job fairs and more.

“We are thrilled to be able to help connect Atlantic Canada’s future workforce with the clean fuels sector through this exciting initiative,” said Michelle Robichaud, president of the Atlantica Centre for Energy.

By engaging with the online learning materials, students will be eligible to win a $1000 bursary, or one of two $500 bursaries.

Canada’s future economy will need to be powered by clean energy, including clean fuels to reach the country’s climate goals of net-zero emissions by 2050. Starting in 2025 Canada will see a net increase of 700,000 jobs in the energy sector, as clean energy jobs outpace the decline in jobs in the fossil fuel industry. This represents an annual seven per cent year-over-year increase in jobs as we move towards our net-zero targets.
