Tour New Brunswick pellet plants with WPAC

The Wood Pellet Association of Canada has organized a post-conference tour of the New Brunswick wood pellet sector.

Scheduled for Sept. 26-27, the tour includes site visits at H.J. Crabbe & Sons Ltd., JD Irving’s Grand River Pellet, Groupe Savoie, Shaw Resources, and Port of Belledune.

The tour includes airfare from Ottawa to Fredericton, ground transportation, two nights hotel, breakfast, boxed lunches, and return airfare from Moncton to Montreal.

Tour participation is limited to just 15 spots, which are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Wednesday, September 25
9:00 p.m. – Depart Ottawa Airport, flight to Fredericton
11:15 p.m. – Arrive Fredericton, overnight in hotel

Thursday, September 26
8:00 a.m. – Depart Fredericton hotel by bus, bound for Florenceville-Bristol, N.B.
9:30 a.m. – Arrive at H.J. Crabbe & Sons Ltd.
9:45 a.m. – Tour H.J. Crabbe sawmill and pellet plant
10:45 a.m. – Discussion of H.J. Crabbe’s forest management and pellet fibre sourcing
11:15 a.m. – Depart H.J. Crabbe, bound for JD Irving – Grand River Pellet
12:30 p.m. – Arrive at Grand River Pellet
12:45 p.m. – Tour Grand River Pellet and St. Leonard Sawmill
2:15 p.m. – Discussion of JD Irving’s sustainable forest management and fibre sourcing
2:45 p.m. – Tour of JD Irving woodlands
6:00 p.m. – Depart Grand River Pellet, bound for Grand Falls
6:30 p.m. – Arrive Grand Falls, overnight in hotel

Friday, September 27
8:00 a.m. – Depart Grand Falls hotel by bus, bound for Saint Quentin, N.B.
9:00 a.m. –  Arrive at Groupe Savoie
9:15 a.m. – Tour Groupe Savoie pellet plant
10:15 a.m. – Discussion of Groupe Savoie’s forest management, pellet fibre sourcing and biomass boiler projects
11:15 a.m. – Depart Groupe Savoie, bound for Belledune, N.B.
1:15 p.m. – Arrive at Shaw Resources pellet plant
1:30 p.m. – Tour Shaw Resources pellet plant
2:30 p.m. – Depart Shaw Resources, bound for Port of Belledune
2:45 p.m. – Arrive Port of Belledune
3:00 p.m. – Discussion of Shaw Resources sustainable fibre sourcing, sustainability certification, Port of Belledune operations
4:00 p.m. – Tour of Port of Belledune pellet storage and loading facility
5:00 p.m. – Depart Port of Belledune, bound for Moncton, N.B.
7:30 p.m. – Arrive at Moncton Airport
8:45 p.m. – Depart Moncton Airport, flight to Montreal
9:47 p.m. – Arrive at Montreal Aiport.  End of tour.
