EIA: Biomass power capacity to hold steady in 2024 and 2025

The U.S. Energy Information Administration currently expects renewables to account for 24 per cent of U.S. electricity generation in 2024, increasing to 26 per cent in 2025, according to the agency’s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released on Feb. 6. Renewables accounted for 22 per cent of electricity generation last year.

Biomass generation is currently expected to account for approximately 2.32 per cent of U.S. renewable electricity generation this year, falling to 2.11 per cent in 2025. Biomass accounted for 2.47 per cent of U.S. renewable electricity generation in 2023.
