March 24, 2016 — South Korean state-controlled utility Korea Southeast Power (Kosep) will hold a meeting on April 4 for bidders interested in supplying the utility with biomass fuel.

The meeting will be for suppliers of wood pellets or woody biomass solid recovered fuel (SRF) pellets and will explain the firm’s bidding procedures and how to qualify to bid. Interested parties must register by March 29.

Kosep issued tenders for 933,400t of woody biomass in pellet form last year, up from 515,000t in 2014. But delivery of the firm’s tenders was for 752,000t in 2015, down by 16.4pc from 900,000t delivered in 2014. The firm has so far tendered for 392,000t for 2016 delivery.

Kosep’s most recent tender was issued in January for 46,000t of wood pellets of woody SRF in pellet form for delivery to its 678MW Yeosu plant on May1 to December 31. The tender was awarded at $98/t on a delivery duty paid (DDP) basis, traders said.
